Agia Fotini is located in a remote part of Crete, far from the crowds of holiday makers and resorts found elsewhere, but just an hours drive from the historic town of Rethymnon with its Venetian streets and Fortress, handicraft and modern shops and the twice weekly market.

The beaches in either direction are quiet and unspoilt, with many secluded and deserted spots and only the occasional taverna in which to break your journey with a cool drink or a bite to eat.

A short walk to the east brings you to the long sandy beach of Triopetra, or three rocks, while to the west you can reach the palm beach and ancient monastery of Preveli within a couple of hours on foot – or less than 20 minutes by car

If you hire a car you can visit the famous springs of Spili, just 30 minutes away, the fishing harbour Agia Galini and the little known but impressive gorge of Agios Antonios. The Minoan sites of Faistos and its recently discovered port at Komos, and the Roman city of Gortys are also within easy reach.

A short drive away, the Amari valley is a wonderful place to visit in the heat of the summer, where the traditional mountain villages with their plane trees, cool springs and kafenions are untouched by tourism

In spring the whole area is rich in wild flowers and there are marvellous walks in the mountains and through traditional villages.

Please note, due to our remote location payment by Credit Card is not possible.
